This self-tapping threaded insert creates a strong tapped connection to receive an M8 threaded fastener.  These are usefull when mounting thick paneling that require frequent removal.  These are also commonly used to reduce a 45 series centerbore to an M8 thread for various purposes, such as when using pivot joints with an end-to-end or end-to-side configuration.  No machining required.
